Job description
Directorate: Regeneration and Environment
Permanent, full time, 37 hours per week.
We are seeking a proactive and experienced Travel Contract and Compliance Officer to join our Passenger Transport Service in Rotherham.
This is a key role responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and compliant delivery of transport services for SEND and Adult Social Care passengers. You will monitor contracted operators, oversee service performance, and ensure all services meet legislative requirements and quality standards. The role also involves leading a small team, supporting contractors and colleagues, and providing professional advice within a customer-focused environment. You will play a vital part in investigating incidents, managing risk assessments, and ensuring that all transport provisions are safe, inclusive, and accessible for passengers with a wide range of needs.
The successful candidate will bring experience from a passenger transport, SEND, Adult Social Care, or community transport setting, along with a strong understanding of compliance, contract management, and service delivery. You will be confident in analysing data, producing reports, and driving continuous improvement, with excellent communication skills to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
For an informal discussion about this role, please contact Carrie Ridgeway – Travel Planning Manager by email at carrie.ridgeway@rotherham.gov.uk or Paul Topham – Interim Transport Service Manager at paul.topham@rotherham.gov.uk.
This post involves working with children/adults and therefore if successful you will be required to apply for a disclosure of criminal records check at an enhanced level. Further information about the Disclosure Scheme can be found at www.gov.uk/disclosure-barring-service-check.
