Operations Manager
Scunthorpe
£40,000 to £45,000 (+ Car Allowance and Bonuses)
We are working with one of the UK’s leading suppliers of steel plate, profiles, and structural sections, who are looking to appoint an experienced Operations Manager to oversee operations across their Sheffield and Scunthorpe sites.
This is a key role for a proactive and experienced leader with a background in warehouse, production, or steel operations, offering the chance to make a real impact in a growing and dynamic organisation.
The successful candidate will manage day-to-day operations across both sites while developing the capability to support future growth. Reporting directly to the Operations Director, the role covers the outside stockyards, warehouse, and operational teams, forming a vital part of the Senior Management Team.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage day-to-day site operations across both locations
* Drive workflow efficiency to meet and exceed handling and production targets
* Champion Health & Safety and Quality Management standards across all teams
* Optimise warehouse processes to boost productivity and performance
* Collaborate with internal teams to deliver outstanding customer service
* Develop strong supplier partnerships to ensure availability, control costs, and maintain product quality
* Oversee product storage and handling to uphold quality and service excellence
* Ensure full compliance with all Health & Safety legislation and company policies
* Communicate customer requirements effectively to maximise operational efficiency
* Lead, coach, and develop team members to achieve high performance
* Track, analyse, and act on KPIs to enhance efficiency and cost control
* Maintain exceptional housekeeping and safe working practices across all areas
About You
* Proven track record managing a fast-paced semi-production or warehouse operation
* Strong background in site management, maintenance, and continuous improvement
* Skilled in implementing process improvement methods such as Lean, Six Sigma, or TQM
* Experienced in developing and applying KPIs to drive performance and efficiency
* Confident leading change initiatives and building high-performing teams
* Solid understanding of cost management and operational budgeting
* Hands-on leader with excellent people management and motivational skills
* Clear, confident communicator with strong interpersonal ability
* Highly organised with exceptional time management and IT proficiency
* Committed to maintaining the highest standards of Health & Safety
