Overview
A vacancy at University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust – an exciting opportunity for a Specialist Biomedical Scientist in the Haematology and Blood Transfusion sections of Blood Sciences. The post is based at The Royal Bournemouth Hospital (The Dorset Pathology Hub) but the successful candidate will be working at the laboratory in Poole Essential Services Laboratory on rotation. The department is fully UKAS accredited and an IBMS accredited training laboratory.
Responsibilities
* Regularly rotate through all sections of the Haematology & Blood Transfusion department.
* Participate in the 24/7 shift system.
* Support clinical trials and patient blood management initiatives.
Qualifications
* BSc in Biomedical Science or equivalent.
* Registration with Health and Care Professions Council as a Biomedical Scientist.
* Completed the IBMS Specialist Portfolio (Haematology) or proven experience at Band 6 level in Haematology/Blood Transfusion.
* Evidence of continual professional development (CPD).
* Candidate completing the Specialist Portfolio may start on band 5 and will be promoted to a Specialist BMS upon completion.

Location & Working Hours
Base location: Royal Bournemouth Hospital – requires cross‑site working at Poole Hospital. 6‑hour‑shift system with 24/7 coverage.
