Role: Paralegal - Childcare
Office Base: Wigan, WN3 5BA. Ability to combine home and office working after a period of training.
Hours: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

The Role
To assist the department manager and solicitors in carrying out duties and where appropriate, to deal with clients and their affairs.
Duties To Include
* Advising clients and attend meetings where appropriate.
* Supporting solicitors with case management, including drafting legal documents and preparing bundles.
* Handling client and professional enquiries via phone, email, and post.
* Managing new business enquiries effectively.
* Arranging and attend conferences with Counsel; undertake advocacy and hearings where appropriate.
* Organising workload to meet chargeable and non-chargeable targets under supervision.
* Performing administrative tasks and ensure compliance with client care and Law Society rules.
* Contributing to practice development through blogging and networking.
* Identifying and act on cross-referral opportunities within the firm.

Essential Requirements
* Experience or knowledge of family law/care proceedings work.
* Strong computer literacy and research skills.
* Excellent organisation and time management skills.
* Outstanding communication skills both face-to-face and over the telephone.
Desirable
* Law Degree (ideally 2:1 or above) or relevant work experience.
* Experience assisting in family law, including public and private childcare cases.
* Knowledge of Solicitors Accounts Rules.
* Familiarity with Stephensons Client Complaints Rules and Client Care Procedures.
* Understanding of family law and up-to-date legislation.
* Experience using case management systems.
