Essential Skills & Qualifications: Strong, broad-based understanding of a wide range of technologies relevant to Barclaycard, including emerging technologies such as AWS, Azure, Java, and Adaptive/Responsive Design. Solid awareness of IT Security principles, patterns, and best practices. Demonstrated experience in designing secure, scalable, highly available, resilient, and performant solutions. In-depth knowledge of software delivery and deployment patterns, including Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery, with a strong grasp of Enterprise Container Platforms (e.g., Docker). Familiarity with various integration mechanisms, such as RESTful Web Services and ETL. Awareness of data architecture best practices and modern data solutions (e.g., MongoDB, Data-Driven Design). Experience with source control, packaging, and build tools such as Git, Jenkins, Maven, and Gradle. Desirable Skills & Preferred Qualifications: Domain knowledge or experience in Payments/Acquiring, with a good understanding of customer journeys including Authorisations, Scheme Clearing, Scheme Settlement, Merchant Payments, and Chargeback Processing. Strong understanding of integration and implementation challenges and their architectural implications. Proven expertise in architectural and design best practices, including Domain-Driven Architecture, Event-Based Architecture, Microservices, and principles of resilience, scalability, and performance. Familiarity with various project delivery methodologies, lifecycles, and documentation requirements. Understanding of service delivery concepts and how technical delivery impacts operational support.
