Technical Lead (Python & AWS)
In this role you will take ownership of the engineering function across a team of thirteen. You will cover technical direction and architecture, standards, tooling, development process, coaching, and overall output quality. The teams are small, currently self-managing, and the work leans towards the back end. This role offers a clear structured progression into a ‘Head of’ role, playing a key role not in the technical development, but hiring and shaping the team to scale. This role is based in 2-3 days per week in the Oxford office, with flexibility around working hours.
The Role:
* Lead the engineering function of a small to medium sized software team
* Own technical direction, standards, tooling and delivery quality
* Coach and develop junior and mid-level engineers
* Oversee back-end-led work within an agile sprint cycle
* Support future hiring as the role progresses into Head of Software/Development
* Based in Oxford office, 2-3 days per week.
The Person:
* Confident with multi-tiered architecture via APIs and serverless AWS (Lambda, S3, SQS, API Gateway)
* Solid technical leadership or line management background
* Able to guide standards, process and engineering best practice
* Based within commutable distance to Oxford office
