Towerview Care provide residential nursing care to people of working and older age who have Mental health and complex challenging care needs.


Responsibilities

?

* To work as part of the clinical team providing psychology and behavioural specialist services at Towerview Care
* To conduct psychological, systemic and psychometric assessments to devise robust care planning
* To analyse effectiveness of psychological input around a residents presentations, level of incident, well being and engagement
* To provide reports, guidelines, reactive plans and risk assessments to Towerview Care
* To monitor and analyse data as appropriate
* To provide mentorship and guidance to staff to implement behavioural plans
* To develop and provide staff training
* To guide and support Assistant Psychologists with clinical supervisions and CPD
* To liaise with clinical colleagues regarding the individual issues of concern
* To attend weekly team MDT meetings
* To be flexible to travel to all 4 services

Qualifications / Professional registration

* Registered with HCPC
* Qualified Clinical Psychologist
* Experience in fast pace and challenging environment and providing effect assessment and treatment for people with complex mental health and dementia.

Skills

* Excellent communication and listening skills, to relate to people of all ages and backgrounds, motivate clients and gain trust. Clients may be uncooperative because they're frightened, frustrated or disorientated by their situation
* Patience, as progress may be slow - involving repetitive exercises to aid clients who have problems memorising, processing and retaining information
* Creativity and problem-solving skills, to design programmes appropriate for different learning styles and communication issues
* Ability to work in a team across different professions as part of the MDT process
* Organisational skills and flexibility, to deal with a range of clients in varied settings
* Ability to be at ease in a care home environment
* Qualities such as empathy, assertiveness, tact, a sense of humour and physical and mental stamina
* Experience with assessing and treating residents with mental health and dementia.

Work experience

* Experience within hospital, community or nursing home environment
* Preferred experience or work related experience within a social care sector is desired

* To form productive relationships with the clients to enable observation of true potential and to motivate them to communicate potential
* To build positive relationships with staff
* To be aware of and always promote a person-centred approach to all residents
* To value and respect each resident and team members
* To demonstrate empathy towards residents and to support and encourage staff to use empathy to inform their practice.


Confidentiality

* To keep all resident information confidential. Inter-disciplinary working;
* To work alongside other members of the interdisciplinary team as required;
* To support and supervise Physiotherapist Assistant (as appropriate);
* To gather information from other agencies as required and to record this clearly.


Learning

* Engage in critical reflection on own practice in order to develop practice knowledge, theory and skills and CPD
* Ensure requirements are met to update skills and competencies to continue to be registered

Training & Development:

* Attend mandatory training days/courses, on or off site, as and when required.
* Maintain professional knowledge and competence.
* Ensure full training compliance for staff.

Infection Prevention & Control

* Infection prevention & control is everybodys responsibility, it is a requirement for all Towerview Care staff to comply with all the infection control policies and procedures.
* All Towerview Care staff should ensure that they fulfil their responsibilities for infection prevention and control, that they provide leadership where appropriate in infection control matters and that they challenge poor infection control practice in their workplace.
* All staff must adhere to Towerview Cares Hand Decontamination Policy
* All staff are expected to behave in a manner which protects residents, public and colleagues from infection risks within the scope of their role
* All staff should have infection control training at induction and annual infection control updates


Health & Safety:

* Report immediately to the Home Manager, or Person in Charge, any illness of an infectious nature or accident incurred by a resident colleague, self or another.
* Understand and ensure the implementation of Towerview Cares Health and Safety policy


Emergency and Fire procedures.

* Report to the Home Manager, or Maintenance, any faulty appliances, damaged furniture, equipment, or any potential hazard
* Promote safe working practice in the Home

General:

Ensure that all information of confidential nature gained in the course of duty is not divulged to third parties

* Notify the Home Manager, or the Person in Charge, as soon as possible of your inability to work, and on your return to work from all periods of absence
* Ensure the security of the Homes is always maintained
* Adhere to all Company policies and procedures within the defined timescales
* Ensure all equipment is clean and well maintained
* Carry out any other tasks that may be reasonably assigned to you


It is an expectation of all staff to have vaccines or other essential health treatments, in line with Public Health guidelines and in relation to health and safety to protect yourself as well as others.


All staff are required to respect the confidentiality of all matters that they might learn in the course of their employment. All staff are expected to respect the requirements under theData protection Act 1998. All staff must ensure that they are aware of their responsibilities under theHealth and Safety at Work Act 1974.
