Campus Support Officer (CSO) – Nights (Permanent and FTC)
Join the University of the West of England as a Campus Support Officer working night shifts. The role is permanent, with a 4 on / 4 off pattern (7pm‑7am). A temporary 3‑month fixed‑term contract is also available.
Key responsibilities
* Provide friendly, courteous front‑line assistance to students, staff and visitors, upholding high standards of customer service>
* Respond to university security and emergency situations, including first aid response and calls to emergency services.
* Deal with potentially challenging or distressing situations in line with university policies, remaining impartial, objective and professional.
* Assist with the implementation of emergency procedures, liaise with emergency services and carry out searches of premises as needed.
* Operate university security technology (CCTV, access control, intruder detection, panic alarms).
* Carry out Control Room duties in line with relevant codes of practice.
* Play an active role in special events (Open Days, award ceremonies, conferences).
Requirements
* Relevant education or demonstrated experience in a large organisation security role.
* First Aid at Work training or willingness to be trained.
* Customer‑focused experience, composure in serious incidents, conflict resolution skills.
* Flexible shift working, DBS checked, ability to work sustained periods in all weathers.
* Full driving licence, capable of driving university vehicles.
* Enhanced DBS clearance.
Salary and allowances
* Grade C10: £24,309 per annum
* Contractual overtime: £3,097 per annum
* Weekend working allowances: £3,942 per annum
* Unsocial hours allowance: £4,585 per annum
* Additional 2 hours Time Off In Lieu per week.
Location
UWE Bristol operates across three main campuses (Frenchay, Glenside, City Campus). You will be expected to work at any of these sites.
