Paediatric Staff Nurse – Emergency Care

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 Paediatric Staff Nurse to work on our busy Paediatric Emergency Care Centre at Royal Albert Edward Infirmary.

We work closely with the ambulance service and specialist teams both within the hospital and in the community to ensure that we provide the right care, at the right time. We have a co-located GP/MIU, making referrals and collaborative case management easy and effective. This is proving to be highly successful.
We offer flexible working patterns on a roster basis which includes a well-balanced combination of days, nights and weekends in order to meet the needs of our patients and ensure we provide a fair and equal working environment for the whole team.

Main duties of the job
* To provide highest standards of care to children and their families.

* Responsible in ensuring the effective running of the department in the absence of senior staff.
* Commitment to self-development in preparation for the continually changing environment of emergency care.

Qualifications
* Recent evidence of continuing professional development
* RN (Children)
* Teaching and Assessing Course
* Degree /Diploma Studies
* Specialists Skills Course, such as critical care
Experience
* Experience in the relevant speciality of which you are applying
* Experience of working independently and as a member of a team
* Previous experience in caring environment
* Experience of clinical supervision
* Experience of audit research
Skills
* Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
* Ability to maintain and improve standards of care
* Ability to challenge unacceptable behaviour in a clinical context
* Basic computer skills
* Ability to work with minimal supervision
Knowledge
* Up to date knowledge of current clinical and professional issues
* Knowledge of evidence based practice
