Location: Rugby, CV21Pay Rate: £15.70 per hour PAYEHours: 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9:00am 5:30pmContract: 15 June 2026 15 September 2026We are recruiting for an experienced Planning Officer to support a busy Development Management team dealing with a varied caseload of planning applications and development proposals.This role offers an excellent opportunity for a planning professional with experience of the UK planning system to manage applications, provide planning advice, undertake site visits and contribute to the delivery of sustainable development within local and national planning policy frameworks.Key Responsibilities Process and determine a range of planning applications, consents and prior approvalsProvide pre-application planning advice to applicants and stakeholdersAssess planning applications and prepare reports with recommendationsUndertake site visits, surveys, investigations and research workLiaise with applicants, agents, developers, councillors and statutory consulteesNegotiate planning matters, including Section 106 agreements and infrastructure contributionsPrepare and present reports to Planning Committee where requiredManage appeals and assist with the preparation of evidence and witness statementsMaintain accurate records and ensure compliance with planning legislation and policyManage a varied caseload while meeting statutory deadlines and performance targetsAbout You The successful candidate will have:A relevant degree in Town Planning or a related professional qualificationExperience working within Development Management, either in a local authority or private practiceGood knowledge of UK planning legislation, policy and proceduresExperience handling a variety of planning applications and consentsStrong report-writing, analytical and assessment skillsExcellent communication and negotiation abilitiesAbility to manage competing priorities and work independentlyGood IT skills, including Microsoft Office applicationsFull UK driving licence and access to transport for site visitsDesirable RTPI membership or eligibility for membershipExperience attending Planning CommitteesKnowledge of planning appeals and related legal proceduresExperience negotiating Section 106 agreements and CIL mattersWhat's on Offer? £15.70 per hour PAYE37-hour working weekHybrid working opportunitiesVaried and interesting caseloadOpportunity to gain experience within a busy Development Management teamTo apply, please submit your CV or contact Lynx Employment Services for further information.TPBN1_UKTJ
