About the role
As a Payroll Apprentice, you’ll play an active role in supporting the delivery of a customer-focused payroll service. You will work alongside experienced colleagues to help ensure employees are paid accurately and on time, while contributing to continuous service improvements.
This role will support you to complete a Level 3 Payroll Administrator Apprenticeship, giving you the skills, knowledge and experience needed to build a successful career in payroll.
What you’ll be doing
1. Supporting day-to-day payroll processes, including inputting data and basic calculations
2. Responding to customer queries and providing excellent service
3. Assisting with payroll-related projects and administrative tasks
4. Producing and maintaining accurate data and reports
5. Working collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders
6. Helping identify opportunities to improve processes and simplify ways of working
7. Using technology, automation and AI tools to improve payroll efficiency, accuracy and service delivery

Essential:
8. GCSEs (Grade 9–4) or equivalent in English and Maths
9. Good communication skills (written and verbal)
10. Basic IT skills (e.g. Microsoft Office and Outlook)
11. Ability to manage your time and meet deadlines
12. A positive attitude and willingness to learn
13. Able to travel to work settings when required
