2 x Full Time Homeless Assessment Officer (Fixed term contract 2 years)
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Homeless Assessment and Support Services for a Full-time Homeless Assessment Officer. The team is dynamic and focused on providing comprehensive housing advice and interventions to prevent and alleviate homelessness.
The post holder will be the first point of contact for customers accessing the service via various channels, including face-to-face, telephone, written correspondence, or our online portal.
A key aspect of the role involves assisting customers with self-help options, identifying solutions to housing problems, sourcing positive prevention outcomes, and helping individuals secure and sustain suitable accommodation. Homeless Assessment Officers are also responsible for fulfilling the council's legal obligations in line with current legislation, guidance, policies, and procedures.
This role requires someone who has:
* The ability to interpret and apply homeless legislation
* Experience in providing housing and homelessness advice, including prevention strategies
* Knowledge of various housing options available
* Ability to work flexibly and prioritize customer-centered service delivery
* Working knowledge of Information Technology
The post may require working from different locations across the Borough and undertaking visits as needed, including participation in out-of-hours rota.
