At Stepping Stone Projects, we support people to move on from homelessness and build stable, independent lives. We’re now looking for a Housing Management Officer to join our Wigan service—offering a flexible, part-time opportunity to make a meaningful difference.
About the role
You’ll deliver a proactive, site-based housing management service, supporting a small caseload of customers to successfully maintain their accommodation and prepare for move‑on to longer‑term housing.
This is a varied role combining tenancy management, customer support, and property oversight—perfect for someone who enjoys both people‑focused work and operational responsibility.
What you’ll be doing
* Supporting customers to meet the conditions of their tenancy or licence agreement and sustain their accommodation
* Monitoring rent accounts and helping customers maximise their income and manage payments
* Managing a small caseload with a personalised, supportive approach
* Identifying and addressing tenancy issues, including breaches and anti‑social behaviour
* Carrying out sign‑ups, tenancy checks, and property inspections
* Working with external partners (health, social care, local authorities) to support customer outcomes
* Maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with procedures
About you
You’ll be organised, approachable, and confident working with people from a wide range of backgrounds. You’re able to balance empathy with clear boundaries and a structured approach.
We’d love to hear from you if you have:
* Good literacy and numeracy skills
* Experience in providing housing management, housing‑related support, care and support, or housing advice in any of the following fields: housing management, supported housing, housing advice work, youth and community work or other work supporting homeless people
* Experience in frequently operating computerised administrative and office systems and software packages
* Ability to develop effective working relationships and rapport with clients and colleagues
* Ability to manage time effectively, prioritise work and meet deadlines
* Ability to act as an advocate and liaise with the relevant agencies including health, social care, police
