About the Role
You will join a specialist security team as an Infrastructure Engineer, working on critical national and global infrastructure. The role involves leading architectural decisions for datacentre infrastructure, focusing on virtualization, storage, and automation to provide secure platforms for our customers.
Location & Working Hours
Based in London, Cheltenham or Ipswich. Onsite, 5 days a week, Monday‑Friday 9am‑5pm.
DV (Developed Vetting) Security Clearance required. Must have lived in the UK for 10+ years. An allowance of £5,000 per annum may be payable monthly while holding DV clearance.
Responsibilities
* Providing the architectural direction for datacentre infrastructure technologies across a large platform, primarily for virtualisation components and potentially encompassing storage and backup components
* Engaging across the wider infrastructure engineering team to understand use cases and requirements for virtualisation and storage technologies
* Collaborating with technical architects and security leads to ensure compliance with design standards and security requirements
* Documenting processes and procedures required for deployment, maintenance and operational use of infrastructure
* Champion the use of automation and orchestration capabilities to promote efficiency and improve working processes

Mandatory Qualifications
* Familiarity with virtualisation stacks such as VMware or Proxmox
* Experience with one or more of the following areas:
o Deployment or administration of VMware Cloud Foundation
o Administering vSAN clusters
o Knowledge of NSX‑T or NSX Federation
Preferred Qualifications
* Ansible automation experience
* Experience with external storage solutions such as NetApp or Dell EMC
* Knowledge of backup and recovery technologies such as Veeam or Netvault
* Understanding of backup and disaster recovery strategies
Additional Experience
Experience providing 3rd line support to operational environments.
