Due to continued growth plans for the business we are looking to expand our teams and are looking for experienced Adult Complex Care Nurses (RGN) with a positive and proactive attitude to potentially join us in Pembrokeshire. Our care in the home services support children, young people and adults with a wide range of conditions, including: brain injury, spinal cord injury, neurological conditions and neurodegenerative diseases, respiratory conditions and gastro-intestinal conditions, including percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG) feeding. What you'll be working: 12 hours shifts We are looking for registered nurses to provide a package of care during the night (x 1 nurse) and possibly 3 days a week (x 1 nurse) What you'll be doing: Duties within the role will include: Assessment of respiratory function - monitoring oxygen saturations & CO2 levels saturations Checking pressures tubing & filters Recognising alarms and troubleshooting basic issues. ensuring backup power and safety equipment. ensuring equipment calibration and accurate record keeping Observations of hypoventilation and apnoea.- awareness of early signs of cyanosis, morning headaches, using overnight oximeter NON -invasive ventilation ( NIV ) & Tracheostomy management - setting up, checking and maintaining BiPAP/CPAP devices Suctioning techniques (tracheostomy) suctioning competence- infection control and tracheostomy observations, changing of Tracheostomy if required Humidification systems and airway clearance technique Emergency airway management - Basic and advanced airway support skills Use of Ambu bag with oxygen and knowledge of escalation policy Night -time respiratory monitoring .- overnight oximetry and CO2 trend interpretation Recognising hypoventilation.- escalation process Autonomic & Neurological monitoring - Monitoring for temperature dysregulation, heart rate, blood pressure fluctuations. Management of episodes of hypothermia, or sudden bradycardia/tachycardia Understanding of sleep disorders associated with ROHHAD. e.g. central hypoventilation - recognise abnormal findings & escalate according to care plans Enteral feeding support via Gastrostomy What you'll have: Current NMC Pin registration (Registered General Nurse) A legal right to work in the UK Experience of keeping comprehensive care planning and documentation Demonstrate infection prevention and control principles Adhere to medicine management policies Demonstrate safeguarding awareness and escalation process Understand consent and capacity in young adults Up to date with BLS & Moving and handling. pressure area care Ideally experience of behaviours that challenge and positive behaviour management.
