The services of Hays have been retained by our client, the Northern Ireland Housing Executive (NIHE), to recruit an Electrical Inspector. Based in their Derry/Londonderry office within the Project Delivery team, which is a multi-disciplinary and professional in-house operation that delivers the Housing Executive’s Planned Scheme Improvement programmes. This organisation has more than 85,000 properties and employs 3,000 members of staff throughout NI.
Your new role
Based in the Project Delivery division, which is a multi-disciplinary and professional in-house operation delivering Planned Scheme Improvement programmes in a commercially competitive environment. The role also involves providing inspection and reporting services related to Planned Scheme Improvement and the provision of adaptations for people with disabilities. As the Electrical Inspector, you will provide inspection and measurement services on allocated construction sites, ensuring contract standards are maintained in respect of statutory regulations, materials, and workmanship. You will inspect and measure works completed at various stages throughout construction, maintain detailed records, and forward these records and measurements to the Contract Administrator/Project Manager/Clerk of Works.
What you'll need to succeed
You will either be a Time Served Electrician with over 4 years of relevant experience, or a BTEC Higher Certificate/Diploma qualified electrical engineer with 3 years post-qualification experience in construction maintenance. Alternatively, a degree or equivalent qualification in a technical/construction-related discipline with 2 years post-qualification experience in construction maintenance. The post holder must be conversant with the 17th edition 2008 wiring regulations and comply with subsequent editions as required. A full UK driving licence with access to a vehicle is also essential.
What you'll get in return
The salary range is £31,500 - £35,200. You will have the opportunity to work for a large housing organization on an ongoing temporary contract. The role offers an immediate start with weekly payments via BACS, with all business mileage expenses reimbursed at 45p per mile. The position provides a good work-life balance, with 37 hours per week and an annual holiday entitlement of 35 days, including statutory holidays.
