We are looking for a self‑motivated service engineer in power electronics able to manage service contracts, site activities and to support/participate in commissioning of FACTS & HVDC equipment. This is a key position in GE’s Service organisation; you will lead the technical portion of multi‑year service contracts, support customers in different countries and join a community of experts who provide high‑technology support worldwide.

Responsibilities
* Perform and lead maintenance, onsite activities, and technical support on FACTS or HVDC transmission systems.
* Manage preparations for site activities in coordination with the end customer.
* Perform commissioning activities on FACTS or HVDC transmission systems.
* Lead the technical portion on multi‑year service contracts.
* Attend and lead customer meetings, identifying solutions that meet needs.
* Carry out minor renovations/upgrades of FACTS projects.
* Support the ITO team during tenders for the technical part.
Technical Knowledge
* Site experience with switching equipment, harmonic filters, and instrumentation transformers.
* Experience with FACTS equipment (Thyristor and IGBT); knowledge of rotating machines is a plus.
* Commissioning of protection relays.
* Troubleshooting using network recorders and/or analyzers.
* Resolving incidents onsite and analysing logs and curves.
Abilities
* Strong commitment to EHS, applying rules strictly in high‑pressure situations.
* Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
* Analytical problem‑solving ability.
* Documentation, reporting, and planning of site activities.
* Notions of project management.
* Management of on‑site teams.
* Excellent customer management, especially during incidents.
* Team player, sharing knowledge with colleagues.
Required Qualifications
* Engineering degree or equivalent in power electronics.
* Demonstrated engineering background and technical understanding of power electronics.
* Relevant or identical experience in a similar position.
* In‑depth experience with drives, FACTS, or HVDC equipment (valves, controls, protections).
* Availability to travel up to 50% (with potential 100% assignments during training and short periods).
* Fluent English.
* Valid UK driving licence.
