The Senior Commercial Manager (Cost Verification) is principally responsible for delivering the internally delivered "firewall 3" Cost Verification elements of the Commercial Assurance Strategy for the client Project. The SCM (Cost Verification) also provides expert advice as requested into the creation of the annual assurance schedule, the identification of cross‑cutting trends and themes, and the delivery of internal actions to address such themes – including workshops and education for commercial teams.
Principal Accountabilities
* Deliver Firewall 3 Cost Verification assurance activities where appropriate.
* Support analysis of Cost Verification assurance findings, identifying key themes and trends and ensuring lessons learned lead to effective action.
* Work with owners to provide guidance and education to Project Managers and Suppliers regarding Firewall 1 and Firewall 2 responsibilities for Cost Verification, ensuring they understand and can carry them out effectively.
* Support the annual review of site Commercial Assurance Strategy, specifically the Cost Verification section as part of the Payment Control Point.
* Support the production of a rolling 12‑month Cost Verification assurance schedule.
* Support the analysis of Cost Verification findings to identify cross‑cutting trends and themes.
* Provide expert advice on addressing cross‑cutting trends and themes, leading on delivery of any required actions.
Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience
* Experience working with most common Forms of Contract (NEC & FIDIC) used within the nuclear power construction industry and major projects.
* A record as a Contract Manager, Commercial Manager, Quantity Surveyor, Chartered Accountant and/or Auditor.
* Effective commercial/contract management skills with clear knowledge of best‑practice contract methodologies and the ability to make sound financial decisions.
* Understanding of contract performance measurement, risk management and change management.
* Good collaboration, influencing and communication skills.
* Familiar with nuclear site licence conditions and the nuclear baseline philosophy.
* Problem‑solving ability, understanding of wider strategic context, and the autonomy to deliver requirements that meet these aims.
* Full membership of the RICS / ICAS or equivalent professional body, educated to relevant degree level in commercial management and/or accounting (desirable).
