Senior Landscape Architect – Gloucester, UK
Location: Gloucester, UK
Working hours: Monday – Friday, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm (flexible)
Salary: Competitive, commensurate with experience

Responsibilities
* Lead and manage the preparation of Landscape and Visual Impact Assessments (LVIA), including site surveys, methodology development, visual analysis, and report writing.
* Contribute to masterplanning, concept, and detailed design projects across a variety of sectors (residential, commercial, infrastructure, and public realm).
* Collaborate with project teams, clients, and consultants to develop design solutions that meet project requirements, planning regulations, and client expectations.
* Attend project meetings, planning consultations, and client presentations, representing the practice professionally.
* Coordinate multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines, budgets, and quality standards are consistently met.
* Prepare technical drawings, plans, and visualisations using AutoCAD, Adobe InDesign, and other relevant software.
* Contribute to the preparation of planning applications, design statements, and supporting documentation, ensuring compliance with UK planning policy and guidance.
* Conduct site visits to monitor project progress, assess environmental context, and verify design implementation.
* Stay up to date with industry trends, planning policy, and sustainable landscape design practices, integrating innovations into practice where appropriate.
* Support business development activities, such as proposals, client engagement, and opportunities to expand the practice’s portfolio.
Professional Requirements
* Ideally a Chartered Member of the Landscape Institute (CMLI) with a minimum of 5 years of professional experience.
* Strong technical competence in all aspects of Landscape and Visual Impact Assessment (LVIA), including methodology, report preparation, and visual representation.
* Proven ability to lead and oversee teams working on LVIAs and related projects.
* Good understanding of the UK planning system.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear, well‑structured reports.
* Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and maintain quality under pressure.
* Experience participating in planning appeals or inquiries (written representations, hearings, or full inquiries) is advantageous but not essential.
* Understanding of Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) and their integration into landscape design preferred.
* Comfortable working across a variety of project types.
Software Skills
* Proficient in Adobe InDesign and AutoCAD.
* Experience with KeySCAPE is beneficial (training can be provided).
* A full, clean UK driving licence.
