Job Overview
We’re looking for a QHSE Manager to join our team working for one of our dedicated customers. The role is responsible for deployment and management of all applicable vehicle compliance and health, safety and environmental policies. The QHSE Manager will be responsible for promoting a culture of health and safety within the sites and the wider XPO business.
Key Responsibilities
* Take ownership and accountability of safety and compliance.
* Maintain a working knowledge of all HSE legislation and developments affecting the employer’s industry, ensuring quality and ISO policies and procedures are adhered to and maintained.
* Communicate XPO Logistics QHSE policy and strategy, raising awareness of QHSE legislation/issues by periodic attendance on site QHSE forums.
* Work closely with the customer to align QHSE policy and strategy, and work closely with company solicitors regarding claims and litigations.
* Identify and agree objectives to be achieved for HS&E, ensuring they are communicated and regularly reviewed.
* Ensure that all Contract management are informed of their responsibilities and advise and support colleagues accordingly through effective communications, policies and audits.
* Provide suitable and sufficient training, and maintain it for the Contract to manage QHSE issues on a day‑to‑day basis.
* Manage the on‑site risk assessment process and coordinate the Contract SOPs.
* Manage the Contract accident and near‑miss reporting and investigation procedure, ensuring managers and leaders are appropriately trained and implementing the required procedures and standards to retain legislative compliance.
* Carry out incident trend analysis and monitor and report statistics with a clear view to plan and improve standards on the Contract.
* Ensure all monitoring systems are fully updated and support and advice the team when required to ensure accident investigations are completed thoroughly, timely and accurately.
* Manage and maintain the site environmental management system, formulate action plans/improvements for health and safety across the Contract, promote the Behavioural Safety Guidelines and B‑Safety.
* Provide on‑site liaison with enforcing authorities as required.
What You Need to Succeed
* NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health.
* Competent IT skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
* Operational / Managerial experience in a logistics / transport environment.
* Demonstrate an understanding of business needs of the site.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Experience in delivering training / briefings to colleagues.
* Happy to travel with possible overnight stays.
