How youll make a difference
As a Senior Business Analyst, youll be helping to shape and design future digital solutions that deliver services to the residents and front-line key workers of South Gloucestershire. Working within our Discover and Design practice as part of a project team, youll be primarily focussed on applying strong business analysis and service design skills to deliver user-centred digital solutions.
The wider Information, Technology and Digital Service delivers core IT services for the council. When providing solutions, we take a primarily low-code approach using our standard technology platform (Dynamics 365, Power Platform, Azure PaaS) alongside configurable COTS business systems.
What you will be doing
* You will work on several digital products and projects, balancing business needs with a strong user-centred design focus, these could include:
o Providing a new back-office system to support education services.
o Work on a new document storage and information governance model for the whole organisation.
* Working with the business and talking to users, you will gather and refine requirements and evaluate options for solving problems. You will often contribute to procurement exercises for Commercial off the Shelf (COTS) products.
* You will be working both independently and with peers in a project team and attend and/or lead meetings and workshops as required.
* It will be key for you to identify opportunities for process improvement through the application of digital technology, specifically where automation can be implemented.
* It will be your responsibility to produce documentary and visual artefacts, such as process diagrams, and prepare evidence-based proposals in collaboration with colleagues such as Solution Architects.
What we need from you
* You will have strong knowledge and experience in undertaking a Business Analysis, Service Design or a similar role in the context of a technology/digital delivery team.
* It is essential you have good knowledge and experience of digital transformation, organisational improvement and ensuring value for money.
* We require you to have experience in development methodologies and of working in a project-centric delivery environment.
* You will have experience of managing effective customer, stakeholder and supplier relationships and be confident communicating to wide range of stakeholders.
* You will have excellent analytical skills and an impeccable attention to detail. You must have the ability to make things clear and simple to understand through effective communication that is appropriate to the audience.
* We require you be able to work to strict deadlines, manage a demanding workload and prioritise accordingly.
* Ideally you will hold a recognised Business Analysis (or similar) qualification and demonstrate working knowledge of applying tools and techniques commonly used in this type of role.
What you need to know
* This is a 12-month limited term contract, ending 31st December 2026.
* We are also offering this as an internal secondment opportunity; you should first seek your line managers permission before applying.
* This role is hybrid, with a mixture of working at our office Badminton Road, Yate and working from home.
Interviews anticipated week commencing 15th December 2025.
