Role Purpose
The Baggage Handler is responsible for the safe, timely, and efficient loading, unloading, sorting, and transportation of passenger baggage and cargo. This role supports airline operations by ensuring luggage is handled accurately while maintaining compliance with airport safety and security procedures.
What you will be doing:
1. Load and unload passenger baggage, cargo, and mail from aircraft safely and efficiently
2. Sort and transport luggage to designated areas within the airport
3. Operate baggage handling equipment, carts, belt loaders, and tugs safely
4. Ensure baggage is properly scanned, tagged, and routed to the correct flights
5. Inspect equipment and report maintenance or safety concerns promptly
6. Follow airline, airport, and TSA security procedures at all times
7. Maintain cleanliness and organization of baggage areas and workspaces
8. Assist with aircraft arrival and departure operations as needed
9. Work collaboratively with ramp agents, supervisors, and airline personnel to meet operational deadlines
10. Respond quickly to changing flight schedules and operational needs
11. Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies
12. Perform other duties as requested
Safety, Security, Wellbeing and Compliance:
13. You will have a responsibility and duty whilst at work to take reasonable care of the health, safety and wellbeing of yourself and others in accordance with provided information, training, and High school diploma or GED
14. Must be 18 years of age or older
15. Ability to work in a fast-paced and time-sensitive environment
16. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
17. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
18. Basic communication and teamwork skills
19. Reliable attendance and punctuality
20. Must have reliable telephone and transportation
21. Previous airline experience
22. Previous customer service, hospitality baggage handling experience
23. Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and work for extended periods
24. Ability to lift up to 75 pounds
25. Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions and airport operational environments
26. Fast-paced airport environment with exposure to moving equipment, varying temperatures, noise, and operational deadlines
27. Must be able to take verbally direct in English
28. Must be able to read, write, understand and carry out instructions in English
29. Must pass pre-employment and random drug tests
30. Must pass a pre-employment background check
31. Must meet necessary requirements to obtain a security sensitive identification badge
32. Must be in proper uniform or business attire as directed by company officials
33. Identification badges must always be visible
34. Adhere to company policies and procedures and participate in achievement of company objectives
Pay: $16.00 Hourly USD
