Are you interested in working for an award winning social care charity?
Personal Assistants (Support Workers) have the most important role within Enable by making a positive difference every day to the lives of the people we support. No two days are the same for our Personal Assistants, but you will be supporting someone with a learning disability to achieve their goals and outcomes – whatever they may be!
Each person we support has different support needs, so the role may include assisting with personal care, moving and handling or positive behavioural support while expanding their social networks and connections.
Enable creates a bespoke team around every individual we support, and our team of Personal Assistants work collaboratively to ensure the safety, wellbeing and aspirations of the people we support are met.
The Best in You Brings Out the Best in Me
The people we support have varied interests and hobbies and have similar dreams and aspirations. A career with Enable is rewarding and diverse; Personal Assistants have the potential to bring out the best in the people we support.
Let us introduce you to Neil, James and Mary: Neil is nonverbal and uses his own version of Makaton to communicate. He enjoys activities such as going out in his car, local parks, bike riding, and spending time at a day centre. On days in the house he likes movies, music, nursery rhymes and Shrek. Neil requires support with all aspects of daily life, including medication administration, meal preparation and personal care. Shift times vary and can include the ranges noted above. A person-centred approach is required for Neil to help him reach his goals.
Let us introduce you to James: James is quiet and does not use words to communicate. Staff need to observe facial expressions to understand his needs. He enjoys long walks, bowling, swimming, going to the gym and visiting museums. He is sensitive to sensory input and may need support during new or uncomfortable situations; staff will receive full training to support him.
Let us introduce you to Mary: Mary enjoys time in the garden, car rides and singing. A typical day includes looking at favourite items, chatting and spending time with others, and drinking tea with a biscuit. Mary requires support with medication, personal care, meal preparation and other daily life tasks. Shift patterns are 12-hour shifts from 8pm – 8am and waking night shifts.
That is why Neil, James and Mary need you! Will you bring your best so that they can live their best lives?
