Overview
We are recruiting for an Optometrist to join a dynamic, multi-disciplinary ophthalmology team at Aneurin Bevan University Health Board. The Ophthalmic department includes 12 Consultant Ophthalmologists, Specialist and Resident doctors, Nurses, Orthoptists and 11 Optometrists to provide clinical care and support to patients of the Health Board. The role involves working across sub-specialties within Ophthalmology, including glaucoma, medical retina, cornea and core optometry services. Advanced Clinical Optometrists have the highest level of specialist clinical training, knowledge, skills and experience to provide patient care, clinical diagnoses, monitoring and management of both optometric and ophthalmology caseloads. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable; Welsh and/or English speakers are welcome to apply.

Qualifications
Essential
* Independent prescribing of therapeutic drugs’ specialty qualification or working towards qualification
* BSc Hons Optometry or equivalent
* Educated to Masters level or equivalent with post-graduate qualification(s) in a highly specialist aspect of clinical optometry (e.g. College of Optometrists Professional/Higher certificate/Diploma in Glaucoma or Medical Retina)
Desirable
* College of Optometrists Higher certificate in Medical Retina or Glaucoma
* GOC registration as an optometrist with independent prescribing
Experience
Essential
* Relevant specialist clinical experience in optometric practice
* Multidisciplinary team working
* Evidence of ongoing professional development

* Experience managing clinical session workload
* Clinical audit or research experience relevant to specialist practice
* Team leader or managerial experience in a multi-disciplinary team
* Experience of working within a hospital Eye Service
