Summary
Dispenser/Medical Receptionist role in a small, friendly practice with a close-knit team. Flexibility to cover sickness and annual leave required. Enthusiastic and self-motivated team player who can work well independently and as part of the team.
Job Responsibilities
Dispenser
* Liaise with patients and provide a polite and helpful appearance face-to-face and via the telephone
* Take and process prescription requests; check and dispense prescriptions in line with practice guidelines (including dosette boxes)
* Handle controlled drugs and maintain the controlled drug register
* Provide a point of contact for prescription enquires and ensure follow-up action if unresolved
* Escalate repeat prescribing issues to the GP and take follow-up actions as needed
* Order appropriate drugs and monitor stock control
* Regularly tidy shelves and rotate stock; date-check
* Endorse prescriptions when required; bag up prescription orders
* Chare prescription charges in accordance with policy
* Maintain logs and ensure SOPs are correct and up to date
Reception
* Open/close Practice premises and maintain security per protocols
* Maintain and monitor the Appointment system; process in-person, telephone, and online requests
* Direct callers to the appropriate healthcare professional; ensure efficient flow of patients
* Use computer systems for appointment management and data entry; handle mail and messages
* Filing, photocopying, scanning and general clerical support
* Process repeat prescriptions in line with guidelines
* Respond to patient requests and liaise with other team members and healthcare agencies
* Keep reception area tidy and provide information on registration and temporary cover
* Enter home visit requests and arrange ambulance transportation when needed
* Direct patients appropriately in the event of complaints following practice procedures

* Access to confidential data only for legitimate purposes
Person Specification
Knowledge and Skills
* Essential: Basic reception and dispensary experience; basic IT skills; experience working with the public
Qualifications
* Essential: At least one year of experience in Dispensary
* Desirable: Buttercups training in Dispensary
Experience
* Essential: At least one year experience in General Practice
Other
* Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check required
* Prevailing NHS pension details to be discussed at interview
