Small animal vet vacancy surgical bias - manchester

Manchester
Vet
Posted: 30 April
Offer description

An experienced and motivated Veterinary Surgeon is sought to join the welcoming team at this Manchester clinic, where the focus is on delivering consistently high standards of clinical care. This position is particularly suited to a clinician with a strong interest in surgery, as the rota is weighted towards surgical work, with three out of four working days primarily dedicated to procedures.
The role requires confidence in performing more complex soft tissue surgeries independently, alongside a willingness to support and mentor colleagues. The successful candidate will play an important part in developing the wider team’s surgical skills, helping to build confidence and maintain clinical excellence across the practice.
The clinic is well equipped, featuring five consulting rooms, two advanced operating theatres, and a dedicated dental suite. Patient comfort is prioritised, with separate wards for dogs and cats to ensure a calm and appropriate environment during their stay. The caseload is varied, covering both medical and surgical cases, and is further enhanced by the presence of an on-site orthopaedic surgeon, contributing additional expertise to the team.
The wider organisation operates with a distinctive approach compared to traditional veterinary practices. Its focus is not solely on profit, but on delivering accessible and affordable veterinary care while maintaining long-term sustainability. The overarching aim is to ensure that no pet goes untreated when a viable option is available, with initiatives such as free consultations and transparent pricing designed to remove financial barriers for pet owners.
Working within this environment, team members benefit from a collaborative and inclusive culture that values each individual’s contribution, without a traditional hierarchical structure. The role is typically structured across a four-day week, totalling around 38 hours, with a shared Saturday rota of approximately two in nine.
A comprehensive benefits package is offered, including six weeks of annual leave (inclusive of bank holidays), funded CPD and certificate opportunities, and visa sponsorship where required. Additional support includes private healthcare, an enhanced family leave package, a contributory pension scheme, and payment of professional fees such as RCVS and VDS. Employees also gain access to counselling services covering mental health, financial, and personal wellbeing after a qualifying period, alongside schemes such as cycle to work, electric car leasing, retail discounts, charity days, and a refer-a-friend bonus.
