Overview

Health & Beyond are looking for an enthusiastic senior physiotherapist, advanced practice physiotherapist or experienced physiotherapist who wants to become MSKFCP to contribute to our MSK First Contact Practitioners team. The role is based in a clinical GP setting within three Primary Care Networks. The post holder will provide clinical expertise and collaborate with other clinicians, forming part of an MDT approach to enhance care for musculoskeletal problems in primary care. The post would suit an experienced MSK physiotherapist seeking to expand clinical skills in GP settings. We offer flexible working arrangements including full- and part-time posts. Travel between sites in Wolverhampton and Bilston may be required. Occasional extended hours and weekend working may be required.

Main duties of the job

1. Provide clinical expertise, acting as a first-contact practitioner (MSK) and making decisions about the best course of action for patients’ care (including undifferentiated MSK conditions). This includes seeing patients without prior contact with their GP to establish rapid and accurate diagnosis and management plans.
2. Progress and request investigations to facilitate diagnosis and choice of treatment regime, understand limitations of information from tests, interpret results (e.g., X-rays and blood tests) and act on findings to support diagnosis and management plans; engage patients in shared decision making about treatment options.
3. Deliver programmes of supported patient self-management that facilitate behavioural change, optimise physical activity and mobility, and help fulfil personal goals.

Our vision is to develop a partnership between patients and clinicians to deliver high quality health and social care services, meeting the needs of the population of Wolverhampton and beyond. Health & Beyond is committed to ensuring communities receive evidence‑based care and that patients’ views are heard, with a seamless journey through the health system via integration and strong partnership working. We aim to deliver excellence in innovation benefiting patients, employees and commissioners with inter‑professional programs and bespoke care, including the South East Primary Care Network within our area.

Job responsibilities

2. Manages a complex caseload in lieu of a GP (including patients with long-term conditions, comorbidities and multifactorial needs).
