The role
would suit a candidate with a strong UK corporate tax background, a good awareness of other taxes, as well as experience of managing client accounts. Experience of transaction work and/or the Private Equity market is desirable, but not essential, as full training and support would be provided.
The Role
1. You will work in a team managing junior staff providing tax advisory services to a range of PE portfolio company clients delivering bespoke tax advice in relation to the PE portfolio company and the transactions it is involved with. The work is wide-ranging including international tax and supporting our clients throughout the deal cycle.
2. Play a key role in building and maintaining relationships with clients. In particular, working closely with clients to provide them with proactive innovative and commercial tax services.
3. Seek specialist input from other parts of tax and wider network - in particular Transaction Service and non-UK teams
4. Be actively involved in business development activities, helping to identify and research opportunities with new and existing clients
5. Use technical knowledge and commercial awareness to help solve important problems for our clients
6. Take responsibility for developing your own and the team's technical and business acumen; keeping up to date with business and economic issues, industry insights and sharing your experience and technical knowledge as part of a team.
Essential skills and experience
7. Chartered Accountant (ACCA, ICAEW, ICAS, CAI) or Chartered Tax Advisor (ATT, CTA) or equivalent international qualification
8. UK corporate tax skills and experience as well as good awareness of other taxes (VAT, employment taxes, management taxes etc)
9. Some transaction or PE Portfolio experience is desirable, but not essential
10. A flexible approach to allow you to work as part of a number of client/transaction teams simultaneously
11. Ability to build internal and external relationships and networks, both within the UK and overseas
12. Developed communication skills, specifically in negotiating with and influencing others
13. Strong analytical, project management and report writing skills.
14. An inquisitive mind and ability to solve problems as part of a diverse team
15. Ability to use tax technical knowledge & insights in a fast paced commercial environment
