Care Assistant for a Young Person (Part Time) – Bristol

About the role
You will support a family with a young adult who has additional needs. The young person is non‑verbal, uses PECS, and responds well to calls by first name, prompts, modelling, and basic spoken commands. The PA should be confident engaging with a young adult who uses alternative communication methods and can point and vocalise his needs.
Key Responsibilities
* Support the child with daily activities such as arts and crafts and using an iPad.
* Provide supervision and support when accessing the community, including walking, playing football, cycling and trampolining.
* Assist with road safety and crossing roads, and help with navigating stairs and depth judgment.
* Help with route planning and becoming familiar with the local area.
* Support the young adult during sensory overload episodes in the community, offering reassurance.
Essential Criteria
* Experience working with autism and ADHD.
* Previous care experience supporting children or young people with additional or communication needs.
* Confidence with visual communication systems such as PECS, de‑escalation, and supporting an energetic child in community activities.
* Must have own vehicle and a full UK driving licence.
