Job Summary
We are looking to appoint a Salaried General Practitioner (GP) on a permanent contract, covering up to 4 sessions per week. We are flexible and happy to consider fewer sessions for the right candidate.
Main Duties
* Deliver high‑quality GP services in line with the practice rota and agreed sessional structure, including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, and occasional home visits.
* Check and sign repeat prescriptions, manage acute prescription requests and compile and issue computer‑generated prescriptions.
* Assess the healthcare needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed conditions and make professional, autonomous decisions in relation to patient care.
* Refer patients appropriately to secondary or specialist care and admit or discharge patients as needed.
* Maintain high standards of record keeping using the EMIS clinical system and prescribe in line with the practice formulary and national guidance.
* Screen patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness; develop care plans for health in consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols.
* Provide counselling and health education; record clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards.
* Collect data for audit purposes and contribute to the ongoing development of computer‑based patient records and summarising of patient records and read‑coding of patient data.
* Support and mentor junior staff and learners where appropriate.
* Engage in CPD and annual appraisal to maintain clinical skills and GMC revalidation.

Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential
* Medical practitioner included in the General Practitioner Register under article 10 of the General and Specialist Medical Practice Order 2003, not subject to suspension under section 41A of the Medical Act 1983.
* Qualified General Practitioner (completed certificate of Completion of Training CCT), currently on a CCG performers list and not suspended from that list or from the medical register.
* DBS clearance.
* Have had an annual NHS appraisal.
Desirable
* Additional postgraduate qualifications (e.g. DCH, DRCOG, DFSRH).
* Coil insertion competence.
* Evidence of CPD activities.
* Recent experience of working in general practice in the UK.
* Commitment to and experience of working as part of a multidisciplinary and skill‑mixed team environment.
* Evidence of independent working in General Practice.
* Experience of supporting service change.
* Evidence of participation in audit.
* Experience with EMIS and digital tools.
