Job introduction
We have a fantastic Dermatology opportunity in Grimsby, looking for a consultant dermatologist to join our friendly Community Dermatology Service. The role involves working primarily between Cromwell Road (Grimsby) and Ironstone Health Centre (Scunthorpe) sites, delivering full secondary care to patients across our locations. The area boasts Blue Flag beaches, outstanding natural beauty, market towns and excellent transport links to vibrant cities in the North of England.
Responsibilities
* Undertake new and follow‑up consultations, performing a full assessment of the medical condition, patient concerns, and expectations. Record history, findings, diagnosis and treatment plans onto the electronic clinical system.
* Follow care pathways for common skin problems as recommended by national guidance.
* Provide treatment only for presenting complaints in accordance with the dermatology formulary and prescribing restrictions.
* Offer treatments or surgical procedures within the scope of the head contract, ensuring excluded procedures are not undertaken.
* Ensure patients or carers are fully informed, answering any questions and providing written information where required.
* Maintain up‑to‑date records, dictate letters to patients’ GPs, and arrange review letters and amendments within an appropriate timescale.
* Undertake appropriate surgical procedures only after training and direct observation has been completed to ensure competency.
* Order appropriate investigations and ensure pathology forms are filed correctly.
* Take responsibility for seeing and acting on all results, updating GPs and patients appropriately.
* Work collaboratively with all team members to deliver high‑quality, patient‑centred service.
* Participate in audit and evaluation.
Qualifications
* Full GMC registration and specialist registration.
* A Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Dermatology or within 6 months of the CCT date.
* Certificate of Eligibility Specialist Registration (CESR).
* Specialty Certificate Examination in Dermatology – MRCP (Dermatology).
* UK permit or right to work in the UK.
* Commitment to professional development.
* Knowledge of the NHS.
* Understanding of evidence‑based practice and clinical effectiveness.
* Understanding of Clinical Governance, quality issues and health and social policy.
* Ability to produce clear, concise medical notes, both electronic and manual.
* Experience with Microsoft Office applications.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
* Desirable: previous management or supervisory experience, interest in developing additional clinical skills, minor surgical procedure capability, and experience with clinical systems.
