Job Title: General Manager

Location: Basingstoke

Full-Time: On-site

Salary: £80,000 - £101,000

General Manager: Lead people with empathy and drive culture change – Retail / Distribution Centre / Logistics Manager.

Position Summary: The General Manager will be instrumental in transforming the culture of our Distribution Centre, championing employee engagement, empowerment, and continuous improvement. Reporting to the Logistics Director, this role requires an empathetic leader who prioritises people leadership and values the importance of a supportive workplace environment. You will inspire and mentor a diverse management team, cultivating an atmosphere where collaboration thrives, and every team member feels valued and heard.

In addition to overseeing operational performance and safety compliance, you will drive initiatives that promote a positive organisational culture, ensuring that employees are engaged and motivated to achieve their best. By fostering open communication and building strong relationships with union representatives, you will help shape a workplace where innovation, inclusion, and well‑being are at the forefront. Key Responsibilities

* Leading and inspiring the Management team to exceed daily output objectives while fostering an engaging and innovative workplace culture.
* Implementing transformational change initiatives that elevate team performance and employee satisfaction.
* Creating a safe working environment by ensuring compliance with Health and Safety regulations, actively promoting a culture of safety, and collaborating closely with our H&S Manager.
* Meeting and exceeding customer service requirements while managing operational budget effectively.
* Advocating for employee engagement through your leadership style and various initiatives that encourage communication and feedback.
* Building positive relationships with union representatives and ensuring that our labour relations are constructive.
* Participating in UK and Ireland network management decisions and representing Martin Brower positively within the industry.


Qualifications


Who You Are

We are looking for a seasoned leader who possesses the following qualifications and skills:

* Experience: Significant background in FMCG operations, particularly within a retail or distribution centre. Proven track record in managing large, complex budgets and operations.
* Transformational Leader: A visionary who can sponsor and lead continuous improvement initiatives while maintaining an environment prioritising employee wellbeing.
* Exceptional Communicator: Strong verbal and written communication skills, capable of fostering trust and transparent dialogue across teams.
* Empathetic People Leader: Passionate about developing talent and creating a culture where every team member can thrive; you understand the importance of ongoing feedback and mentorship.
* Strategic Thinker: You use data and insights to drive business outcomes and implement strategic priorities effectively while being responsive to industry trends.
