Summary

An interesting AAT level 3 apprenticeship supporting the Head of Finance with a wide range of accounting and admin tasks. The role provides great hands-on experience in core finance processes, ensuring accurate financial records and supporting wider business operations.


Wage

£15,600 a year

After successfully passing probation period, employees qualify for profit-related pay bonus which is paid quarterly in arrears.

Hours

4 days per week (30 hours), 8:30 am to 5 pm with 1 hour unpaid lunch break.

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. Youll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.


What you’ll do at work


Accounts Receivable / Sales Ledger

* Raise sales invoices
* Support credit control activities (chasing overdue debts)
* Allocate customer payments
* Submit customer statements at month-end


Accounts Payable / Purchase Ledger

* Process supplier/purchase invoices and credit notes
* Check invoices against the purchase order log & submit for approval
* Assist with supplier payment runs & supplier statement reconciliations at month-end


Bank & Cash

* Complete daily bank reconciliations & assist with month-end bank reconciliations
* Verify and record employee expenses
* Manage vehicle lease payments & administration, under supervision


Month-End & Reporting Support

Assist the Head of Finance with pre-payment, fixed asset & control accounts reconciliations & journals, under supervision (training will be provided).


General Admin

* Maintain filing systems (electronic & paper)
* Assist with the handling of finance queries from suppliers and customers, under supervision

What you’ll learn


Course contents

* Assist with the investigation and response to financial information queries.
* Record and analyse financial data using the organisations standard tools and processes.
* Apply double-entry bookkeeping and accounting standards to process financial documents, generate financial statements and report financial information to users of accounts.
* Assist with production of accurate financial information for the preparation of accounts.
* Reconcile financial data, such as preparation of reconciliations or review of reconciliations.
* Investigate, resolve or elevate transactional queries and errors within their remit as appropriate.
* Develop and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders.
* Communicate financial information in a way that non-finance stakeholders can interpret and understand.
* Utilise digital skills to present key financial information using finance and accounting software and applications.
* Use software packages to assist with basic accounting tasks in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.
* Communicate using varying approaches and different media methods with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.


Requirements


Essential qualifications

GCSE in Maths and English (grade 5+ along with 3 other GCSEs)

A Level in AAT (grade Level 2)

Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.
