Neighbourhood Housing Officer – closing date 04.08.2025
Salary from £33,951 to £37,638 pa, depending on skill and experience
Plus lease car subsidy or cash alternative of £2,080 pa
Permanent – Full time – 37 hour per week
Location: Ashford, Kent
We are looking for an officer who is passionate about community wellbeing, tenant engagement, and delivering exceptional housing services.
In this role you will be responsible for managing a designated patch and delivering a broad range of services—from income management and rent arrears recovery to tackling anti-social behaviour and promoting community cohesion. You will be at the heart of our neighbourhoods, building strong relationships with tenants, residents, and partner agencies while ensuring tenancies are effectively managed.
You will be managing rent accounts and helping tenants sustain their tenancies along with:
* Identifying and addressing anti-social behaviour, liaising with the Police, social services, and other partners.
* Conducting estate inspections, welfare visits, and property checks to uphold housing standards.
* Taking enforcement action where necessary, including preparing legal notices and attending court.
* Encouraging tenant participation and community engagement to build inclusive, resilient neighbourhoods.
* Supporting void management, letting processes, and coordinating with lettings and repairs teams.
To be competent in this role it is essential tha you have a solid understanding of housing legislation, anti-social behaviour policy, and community support networks, as well as:
* Proven experience in housing or tenancy management, income recovery, or neighborhood services.
* Having strong communication and relationship-building skills with a proactive, problem-solving mindset.
* Having the ability to work independently, prioritising effectively, and handling sensitive issues with diplomacy.
