UMO is expanding its mentoring network in Manchester and London. We’re looking for experienced and qualified professionals to join our national team supporting university students with diagnosed mental health conditions and autism spectrum conditions. About the Roles These roles provide one-to-one mentoring to help students navigate academic and personal challenges, maintain wellbeing, and achieve their goals. You’ll join an established, supportive network of specialist mentors recognised across 70 UK universities for delivering effective mental health and neurodiversity support. Specialist Mental Health Mentor Work with students experiencing conditions such as anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, OCD, PTSD, or eating disorders, helping them build strategies for managing study, stress, and everyday life. Requirements Accredited mental health professional (MBACP, UKCP, HCPC, RMN/NMC, Social Work England, OT, Counsellor, Psychotherapist, Psychologist). Honours degree (any subject). At least 1 year post-qualifying experience supporting young people or adults with mental health conditions. Strong skills in reflective practice, risk awareness, and practical strategy development. Excellent communication, organisation, and interpersonal skills. Specialist ASC Mentor Provide mentoring for students on the autism spectrum, focusing on communication, executive function, and social engagement, helping them manage study demands and transitions. Requirements Honours degree (any subject). Eligibility under Student Finance England Mandatory Criteria for Band 4 Specialist Mentor – Autism Spectrum Conditions (SM-ASC). Minimum 3 years’ experience working with autistic young people or adults. Understanding of strategies for supporting ASC and ADHD. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
