Decoy Community Primary School is a thriving school situated in the middle of a wonderful community.
We are looking to appoint a committed, reliable and enthusiastic Caretaker to join our friendly and supportive team. The successful applicant will be passionate about the standards of the school premises and grounds, ensuring it is a safe environment for pupils, staff and visitors.
Applicants should possess:
1. A proactive, hands-on individual with good problem-solving skills.
2. Experience of site management, maintenance, or a similar role (desirable but not essential).
3. Basic DIY skills and a willingness to learn.
4. An understanding of health and safety regulations (training will be provided).
5. Good literacy skills for record-keeping, compliance, and communication.
6. A team player who can work independently and takes pride in the school environment.
The successful candidate will:
7. Maintain the school buildings and grounds, internally and externally.
8. Undertake minor building and general site maintenance tasks, internal and externally.
9. Support the cleaning staff to maintain a high standard of cleanliness.
10. Oversee the security of the premises, including opening up, locking gates, setting alarms etc.
11. Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene across the school.
12. Carry out metre readings (gas, electric etc)
13. Keep accurate records of compliance checks (fire safety, legionella, asbestos, etc.).
14. Occasionally supervise contractors and ensure safe working practices are followed.
15. Undertake other duties as set out in the job description.
Our school was inspected by Ofsted in January 2023 and retained its ‘good’ judgement. This is testament to the vision, dedication and commitment which has been shown by the staff and governors and the hard work from the pupils themselves.
