Job Advert We are currently looking for a Handyperson/Minor Adaptations Technician to join the team within our East Surrey Home Improvement Agency Service based in Bletchingley. You will carry out a range of installations of items and make necessary adaptations within our service user’s homes. Millbrook Healthcare’s Home Improvement Agency (HIA) is dedicated to making suitable, fit-for-purpose adaptations to service user’s homes which helps them to live more independently. Ideally, we are looking for an experienced general Handyperson/Multi-skilled Tradesman who is good with people and can be flexible. This role will involve travelling to various locations within East Surrey where you will be responsible for carrying out adaptations within the service user’s homes. Normal tasks may include but are not limited to: * Installing various types of internal and external grab rails, galvanized handrails and banister rails and other specialist equipment requiring fixing/installation to walls * Carrying out a range of minor home repairs * Building external small/medium timber framed ramps with composite decking * Small slab and brickwork alterations to steps or pathways * Liaise with clients to discuss and advise on how the works required are to be carried out at the time of visit and for the position of rail heights to suit the user as requested * Ensure all works are completed promptly and with the minimum disturbance for the clients * Discuss with the coordinator details of any pre-work surveys that you have carried out for time and materials needed with administration personnel to ensure that all appointments made on your behalf are manageable in terms of projected job durations and skills required What are we looking for? * Experience in a relatable environment and position * Confident in the use of hand tools and ability to complete the task * Excellent communication skills and empathetic approach with our service users * Good attention to detail with a level of speed and efficiency * Must be able to work off your own initiative as well as part of a team * General experience in carpentry or minor adaptation works will be of benefit * Knowledge of building regulations and safe systems of work * Full UK driving licence (minimum of 2 years) * Trusted Assessor trained or able to undertake training What can we offer you? * An annual salary up to £31,245.84 dependent on experience * Monday to Friday 8:00am – 5:00pm * Company Pension Scheme * Life Assurance * 33 days holiday (including bank holidays) plus an option to take additional 5 days leave unpaid * A rewards scheme – 200 exclusive perks and discounts from leading retailers and leisure outlets No terminology in the advert you have seen is intended to discriminate on the grounds of age, gender, race, colour, religion, disability or sexual orientation, and we will gladly accept applications from all sections of the community.
