Band 5 Paediatric Occupational Therapist
As a Band 5 Paediatric Occupational Therapist you will be part of the Surrey Child and Family Health Service. Job responsibilities
You will deliver high‑quality occupational therapy assessment, diagnosis and treatment to children with developmental, physical and sensory needs. You will work closely with families and carers to create effective self‑management strategies, and support them in promoting independence and well‑being.
* Provide assessment, planning and individualized therapy programmes for children.
* Communicate sensitively with children, families and multidisciplinary teams.
* Train and support families and schools in the safe use of equipment and therapy strategies.
* Maintain accurate records, professional reports and use IT systems effectively.
* Contribute to Education, Health and Care Plans and attend relevant meetings.
* Ensure safe practice, incident reporting, mandatory training and safeguarding responsibilities.
* Participate in team supervision, training and regular meetings.
* Work flexibly across the area when required.
Required qualifications and experience
* Qualified Occupational Therapist with HCPC registration.
* Experience working with children and using paediatric assessments and interventions.
* Good understanding of child development, neuro‑developmental conditions and specialist equipment.
* Ability to assess, plan and deliver personalised therapy programmes with clear, achievable goals.
* Strong, warm and clear communication skills when supporting children, families and professionals.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* Good organisational and record‑keeping skills.
* Awareness of safeguarding, moving and handling, and Education, Health & Care planning processes.
* Physically able to participate in play‑based activities and safe manual handling.
* Valid driver’s licence (full).
Desirable
* Membership of relevant specialist interest groups.
* Practice educator training.
* Experience working in community child services or the NHS.
* Experience teaching, presenting or supporting student learning.
