About the role
You’ll be supporting a pupil with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs, helping them feel safe, regulated, and ready to engage with learning.
Your day will involve:
1. Providing calm, consistent 1:1 support throughout the school day
2. Using agreed strategies to help the pupil manage emotions, routines, and transitions
3. Supporting them to develop confidence, communication, and self-regulation
4. De-escalating challenging situations with patience and care
5. Creating a space where the pupil feels understood, respected, and able to try again
6. Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and wider pastoral team

Requirements to work as a 1:1 SEMH Support Assistant
7. Experience supporting children or young people, ideally with SEMH or SEND
8. A steady, positive, and resilient approach
9. Confidence using behaviour strategies and de-escalation techniques
10. Great communication and relationship-building skills

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
