Housing Support Services Team Leader Role ProfilePurpose of the Role
This is an opportunity for a motivated individual to lead and supervise a team of Housing Support Workers. The Support Services Team Leader will ensure that high-quality, consistent support is delivered to tenants across all Redisher Support Services housing. This includes overseeing staff performance, auditing support records, and ensuring that day-to-day responsibilities are completed in line with internal policies and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
· Team Leadership & Oversight
· Provide day-to-day supervision and support to Housing Support Workers, setting clear expectations and holding staff accountable.
· Conduct joint property visits with support staff, offering guidance and real-time feedback to improve practice.
· Provide cover for tenant support during periods of staff absence (e.g. sickness or holidays) to ensure continuity of service and to assess individual staff performance through direct experience.
· Tenant Support Monitoring
· Carry out weekly visits to each support worker's properties, checking general standards and engaging with tenants directly.
· Ensure communal areas are clean and well maintained, identifying any oversights by staff and addressing them appropriately.
· Monitor for issues such as pest infestations, excessive belongings, or tenant-owned furniture, ensuring these are addressed.
· Compliance & File Auditing
· Audit tenant support files regularly to ensure accurate, up-to-date documentation and support planning.
· Confirm that monitoring sheets are completed consistently and reflect the actual support provided to tenants.
· Oversee the maintenance and accuracy of Support Contracts (SCs), especially for tenants with complex or ongoing needs.
· Support staff in addressing tenancy arrears, especially in the early weeks after move-in.
· Rent Collection & Arrears Management
· Oversee and support Housing Support Workers in the timely collection of rent and service charges.
· Monitor tenant rent accounts regularly, ensuring payments are made and identifying early signs of arrears.
· Work with staff to engage tenants in constructive conversations about rent responsibilities, offering advice or signposting to welfare and budgeting support where needed.
· Escalate persistent arrears cases in line with Redisher Support Services policies, ensuring appropriate action is taken to sustain tenancies and minimise financial risk.
· Communication & Coordination
· Ensure that staff maintain regular, proactive communication with the Head of Support, including reporting of risks or concerns.
· Monitor adherence to internal procedures such as logging maintenance issues through Upkeep and correctly handling tenant post.
· Randomly check void rooms for readiness and inventory accuracy.
· Ensure noticeboards and all health & safety signage are correctly displayed and current across properties.
· Build and maintain effective working relationships with local authorities and external agencies to support tenancy sustainment and positive outcomes for tenants.
Person Specification
* Essential:
· Experience in housing support, social care, or a related field.
· Supervisory or team leadership experience.
· Strong interpersonal, organisational, and communication skills.
· Attention to detail with ability to carry out effective audits of support documentation.
· Understanding of safeguarding, confidentiality, and professional boundaries.
· IT literate; capable of using housing or support systems (e.g., Upkeep).
* Desirable:
· Experience in supported housing or working with vulnerable tenants.
· Familiarity with tenancy sustainment practices and welfare support.
· Confident in managing challenging situations and guiding staff through them.

Additional Requirements
· Regular travel between Redisher Support Services properties.
· Full UK driving licence, access to a vehicle, and valid business insurance are essential.
