At Napier School, we believe every child deserves the right support to thrive. As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you’ll work closely with one of our amazing pupils – building a positive, trusting relationship and helping them engage with their learning in a way that suits them.
You’ll be joining a dedicated and compassionate team that supports children aged 5 to 11 who have autism, learning disabilities, and/or complex needs. Your role will be key in helping a child feel safe, seen, and supported – both inside and outside the classroom.
What you'll be doing:
1. Supporting a pupil 1:1 with their personalised learning programme
2. Building their confidence, independence, and emotional resilience
3. Helping deliver classroom activities, sensory learning, and outdoor play
4. Supporting communication and social skills development
5. Providing care and guidance in a trauma-informed, autism-friendly environment
6. Working closely with teachers, therapists, and families to give each child the best experience possible
What we're looking for:
7. Previous experience working with children, ideally in an educational or care setting
8. A calm, patient, and positive approach
9. A willingness to learn and adapt to different needs
10. Strong teamwork skills and a proactive attitude
11. A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of pupils
If you have experience supporting young people with additional learning needs, that’s a real plus — but we’ll give you all the training you need to thrive in this role.
