Role Summary
To support our growth in water resources planning, we are seeking motivated strategic thinkers who aim to generate the best outcomes for clients, the environment, and society. The role involves taking leadership in delivering the next round of water resource planning and progressing our offering to meet client needs. You will be a key figure in our team of climate scientists, data scientists, engineers, environmentalists, hydrogeologists, hydrologists, managers, and planners, providing strategic direction, quality assurance, leading on innovation, and strengthening client relationships. You will grow our business, lead a diverse range of advisory projects and strategic/feasibility studies, and mentor the next generation of water resources planners.
Responsibilities
* Provide strategic direction and quality assurance for water resources planning projects
* Lead delivery of advisory projects, including strategic/feasibility studies
* Grow the business and strengthen client relationships
* Mentor and develop the next generation of water resources planners
* Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams across internal and external stakeholders
* Support development in technical, management, or client-facing directions
Candidate specification
Essential
* Relevant water resources, engineering or related degree
* Experience leading the delivery of regional plans, Water Resource Management Plans and/or Drought Plans
* Strong communication skills with collaboration across internal multi-disciplinary teams
* Excellent knowledge of UK water regulatory framework
* Good understanding of water supply-demand balance components, estimation, and forecasting
* Significant expertise in undertaking options appraisal
* Experience in preparing bids and client engagement
Desirable
* Chartered status with a recognised professional institution
* Experience of best value planning
* Project management skills
* Track record in building teams and developing junior staff
* Experience of auditing and assurance
* Experience of using asset information
