Overview Of The Role
We are expanding and strengthening our team of project managers within the Water Utilities Division and are seeking a Principal/Associate Project Manager to lead multidisciplinary teams, deliver projects in partnership with clients and contractors, and help secure further work. The role involves leading the design of innovative and sustainable solutions for leakage challenges, clean water provision, and sewage disposal for water utility assets. Projects can be emergency or reactive, requiring fast-paced design while managing the wider programme.
You will coordinate project teams from design through implementation, ensure business management system compliance, technical quality assurance, programme and cost control, and client interface. You will supervise junior staff, provide technical and commercial guidance, contribute to forecast/risk management, and assist with bids and proposals.
Responsibilities
* Lead multidisciplinary project teams from design to implementation within the UK water and wastewater sector.
* Manage projects to contractual scope, schedule, and budget; ensure quality and compliance.
* Coordinate design, procurement, construction, and commissioning activities; manage change and risk.
* Lead client interfaces, attend meetings, and represent the company.
* Provide technical and commercial guidance to junior staff and contribute to business development through bids and proposals.
Candidate specification
Essential
* Qualifications and/or Chartered Status with a recognised project management institution (e.g., APM).
* Demonstrable experience managing UK water and wastewater projects, delivering on time and within budget.
* Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams and effective collaboration.
* Strong communication skills (oral and written).
* Commitment to professional development and knowledge of current and emerging technical solutions.
Desirable
* Chartered status with a recognised professional institution (e.g., ICE, CIWEM, IChemE).
* Willingness to travel to other offices/sites as required.
* Experience with NEC Professional Service Contracts; understanding of designers’ CDM responsibilities.
* Track record in developing junior staff and in preparing bids/client engagement.
