An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Substance Misuse Team at NNUH to recruit an Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) who will also be part of the wider Complex Health Hub.
We're looking for a confident ANP with experience of managing complex care and making decisions autonomously, based on sound evidence-based principles. The ideal candidate will have experience in supporting vulnerable people and working collaboratively with a range of healthcare professionals and teams in both the hospital and community to provide coordinated and integrated care ensuring the best outcomes for our patients.
Under the supervision of the Senior ANP, the postholder will act as a lead expert for drug and alcohol assessments and treatments within the hospital. You will be supporting patients in their recovery including Opiate Substitution Treatment and Alcohol detoxification along with promotion of healthy lifestyles.
Responsibilities
* The post is expected to provide clinical services working within ANP competencies and supported by the multidisciplinary team and senior medical staff.
* Clinical responsibilities include patient assessment, care planning, treatment provision and ongoing management within the scope of practice.
* Lead on drug and alcohol assessments and treatments within the hospital setting and liaise with community and Mental Health services to ensure holistic care.
* Assess, plan, implement and evaluate specialist nursing provision autonomously; develop and implement specialist nursing protocols and nurse-led initiatives including clinics.
* Prescribe and review medications for therapeutic effectiveness in line with evidence-based practice and national guidelines.
* Communicate sensitive information to patients and relatives, and provide ongoing support and reassurance.
* Assess incoming referrals; undertake clinical, psychological and social assessments; maintain accurate documentation; monitor and improve evidence-based practice within the service.
Qualifications and Experience
* Registered Nurse
* Educated to Masters Level or PG Dip at Level 7 in Advanced Practice
* Mentor qualification
* Completion of Non-Medical prescribing
* Nursing-related degree
* Postgraduate teaching experience
* Specialist knowledge and experience of Alcohol and Substance misuse
