Support Worker - South Tyneside
Starting salary £12.21 per hour with increments to £12.41 after successful completion of probation and £12.60 after a further 12 months in post.
Our services operate 24/7, supporting individuals in their homes and communities. We are looking for caring, enthusiastic Support Workers to help clients with everyday activities such as shopping, dining out, attending local events, baking, gardening, crafts, and using public transport.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare person‑centred support plans, review and amend them as appropriate.
* Support clients to fulfil their aspirations, including accompanying them on social visits, arranging activities and outings, promoting choice, and developing skills.
* Communicate openly and transparently with clients and team, act with integrity, support quality inspection processes.
* Provide personal care respecting client choices and dignity, including washing, bathing, toileting, and continence.
* Maintain accurate records, daily notes, and comply with health and safety requirements (manual handling, food hygiene, fire safety, infection control, risk assessment).
* Deliver wide range of personal care and domestic duties as required.
* Effectively liaise with carers, families, inspectors, and stakeholders.
* Work cooperatively as part of a team.
* Carry out physical requirements of the role including climbing stairs, using hoists, pushing wheelchairs, moving people, and may include night work.
* Use computer packages (Word, Outlook, Internet) and undertake relevant training and qualifications.
* Hold a valid driving licence (UK).
Person Specification
Experience
* Prior experience working in care (employment or carer at home).
Qualifications
* Care Certificate or willingness to undertake it.
* Current driving licence considered desirable.
