Overview
Registered Nurse - Medical Assessment Unit 1 role at NHS Ayrshire & Arran. The post holder will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to assess care needs and develop, implement and evaluate programmes of care to ensure high quality patient care. The post holder may be required to demonstrate procedures to and supervise registered and/or unregistered staff, as well as student nurses.
Responsibilities
* Assess care needs and develop programmes of care, and/or implement and evaluate these programmes to deliver high quality care to patients.
* Carry out all relevant forms of care without direct supervision; demonstrate procedures to and supervise staff and student nurses where appropriate.
* Direct, coordinate and supervise, where appropriate, the work of other staff within the ward or department to promote best practice in patient care.
* Provide cover in the absence of the senior charge nurse/team leader to ensure effective operation of the ward/department.
Qualifications and Experience
* Registered Nurse with valid NMC Registration.
* Excellent team working skills with the ability to work using own initiative.
* Effective listening, communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work with people and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* Excellent time management skills.
* Working knowledge of basic information technology.
It would be great if you also have:
* Educated to degree level or training undertaken post-registration courses.
* Evidence of CPD (e.g., Flying).
* Start, meeting PREP standards.
* Cleanliness Champion; evidence of post-registration skills (e.g., IV drug therapy, cannulation and phlebotomy).
* Evidence of positive role modelling and the ability to use NHS Patient Management Systems.
Contract, Location and Working Pattern
* Contract type: Permanent
* Full-time and Part-time available; various hours; part-time posts pro-rata salary.
* Location: Medical Assessment Unit 1, University Hospital Wishaw.
* Working pattern: 12-hour shift patterns, rotational shifts.
