Depute Headteacher Primary (1.0fte) (2) (Permanent)
North West Community Campus Primary, Dumfries
Salary: £71,694 (1 August 2026)

We are seeking 2 enthusiastic, experienced and passionate Depute Headteachers to join our NWCC Primary team on a permanent basis 35 hours per week starting in August 2026. The successful candidates will bring strong leadership skills, high-quality teaching expertise across all stages, including significant knowledge of ASN and GIRFEC, and a commitment to improving outcomes for all learners, with a passion for supporting our inclusive school ethos.

As Depute Headteacher, you will form part of our large team of teaching and non-teaching staff and our Primary SLT comprising of a Head Teacher, 2x Depute Headteachers, Principal Teacher Learning Centre and Nursery Manager. The successful candidate will have stage responsibility of either P1-P4 or P5-P7, including whole school areas of responsibility.

As Depute Headteacher, the successful candidates will lead curriculum development and will lead on aspects of our School Improvement Plan, working in partnership with our children, families and wider school community.

A significant relocation package of up to £5000 may be available to the successful candidate (Permanent positions only). Please see attached guidance for further information.

Applicants for teaching posts must be registered with the General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS), Clerwood House, 96 Clermiston Road, Edinburgh, EH12 6UT in the appropriate sector.

This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.  From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.

Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.
