HR Advisor (Hybrid – Edinburgh)

Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced HR Advisor to join their People Team and provide proactive, professional support to managers across the organisation. This role focuses on managing employee relations (ER) cases, coaching managers to build people-management capability, and identifying trends that inform continuous improvement of HR processes and employee experience. The role works closely with HR Business Partners and reports into the Performance Manager.
Responsibilities
* Provide timely, consistent and expert advice on ER matters including absence, performance, disciplinary, grievance and general casework.
* Lead and support end-to-end case management, ensuring fair, compliant and well-documented outcomes.
* Escalate complex or high-risk cases where appropriate.
* Deliver and support training, coaching and toolkits that build line manager confidence in handling ER issues and improving team performance.
* Promote strong people management practices and support managers in understanding HR policies, procedures and employment law.
* Develop strong working relationships with managers to understand business needs and deliver effective solutions.
* Analyse ER case trends to identify recurring issues, risks and improvements in processes or policy.
* Work collaboratively with wider HR colleagues to enhance employee experience and support organisational goals.
Requirements
Essential:
* Experience managing a broad range of employee relations cases.
* Previous HR Advisor experience or demonstrable capability to operate at this level.
* Strong knowledge of current UK employment legislation.
* Excellent communication, customer service and organisational skills.
* High attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate documentation.
* Experience coaching and upskilling managers.
* Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities and build strong internal relationships.
Desirable:
* Strong analytical capability and confidence presenting insights or recommendations.
* Experience working within a multi-site or hybrid working organisation.
