About the Role
Rapid Time Recruit, acting as an employment agency, are seeking a Transport Planning Manager on behalf of our client, a highly established business in the logistics sector.
This is a full-time, permanent role where you will play a key part in the daily and weekly route planning of vehicles and drivers, ensuring operations run efficiently, legally, and within budget.
A strong background in container logistics, including container planning and port booking systems, is essential.
Key Responsibilities
As Transport Planning Manager, you will:

Lead and support the night planning team at the Liverpool depot, while also providing oversight and assistance to other depots as required.

Handle customer enquiries, adjusting transport plans and routes as required.
*
Brief drivers, provide updates, and manage real-time route changes.
*
Monitor compliance with EU drivers’ hours, digital tachographs, and WTD regulations.
*
Deliver against agreed KPI targets.
*
Ensure all planning aligns with the company values of Honesty, Transparency, and Unity.

Provide night shift support for all regions from a centralised hub.
*
Manage transport system administration to required standards.
*
Liaise with customers, promptly resolving issues or requirements.
*
Book and manage accurate VBS slots on Port and Rail Terminal systems.
*
Coordinate with Fleet to ensure vehicles are available for service/inspection.
*
Investigate and report any out-of-hours accidents/incidents.
*
Uphold security and health & safety procedures during the night shift.
*
Report directly to the Operations Manager.

About You
* To be successful in this role, you will need:
* Proven experience in transport planning within the container sector (essential).
* Strong working knowledge of TOPS and container/port booking systems.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Strong customer service skills with the ability to manage client expectations.
* Confident IT skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
* Leadership qualities with the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
* Highly organised with strong attention to detail.
* Ability to adapt quickly to new systems and processes
