Department for Continuing Education, TALL unit, Ewert House, Summertown, Oxford OX2 7DD. Oxford University Department for Continuing Education (OUDCE) is seeking an experienced Systems Administrator and IT Support Specialist for our Technology-Assisted Lifelong Learning (TALL) unit.
About the role
Joining our friendly and highly creative online learning team, you will be responsible for maintaining servers, systems, and applications that support our online course delivery, as well as providing tier 3 technical support to students, tutors, and staff. You will be the senior administrator of our Virtual Learning Environment, a customised version of Moodle, and the supporting infrastructure. You will be supported by a committed multidisciplinary team. This is a full-time, permanent position with flexible hybrid work options. Most team members work in the office at least two days a week, but on-site attendance is required for serious outages.
About you
You should have professional experience in installation, management, and system administration on Linux, managing web applications or services with large user bases. You should be familiar with routine maintenance cycles to ensure safe operation of production services. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with non-technical colleagues and end users, are essential. This varied role is suited for someone who:
